Welcome to tripTrace. By using tripTrace, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
Account & Profile Information:
Full Name, Email Address, Phone Number (optional), Profile Photo, Username, Bio, Travel Interests, Social Links.
Location & Trip Telemetry:
Location is collected for trip recording, navigation, nearby discover, live location sharing (when initiated by you), and route generation. Background location is used only while recording an active trip. tripTrace does not continuously track your location when recording is inactive.
Trip data includes: Start Location, Destination, GPS Route, Recorded Stops, Photos, Videos, Notes, Duration, Distance, Elevation, and Speed.
Chat, Media & Device Information:
Messages, Images, Videos, Audio, Documents, Device Model, Operating System, App Version, Device Identifier, Crash Logs, and Performance Information to improve app stability.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to create accounts, record and display trips, provide navigation, improve route accuracy, enable messaging, prevent fraud, detect abuse, and respond to support requests.
4 & 5. Trip Visibility & Admin Review
Trips may be Public, Private, or Shared with selected users. Only published trips become visible. Submitted public trips are reviewed by administrators (title, photos, route, tags) before becoming publicly visible to ensure community safety.
6, 7 & 8. Permissions (Location, Camera, Microphone) & Notifications
Location access is used solely for navigation, recording, and nearby discovery. Camera and Microphone access are requested only after user interaction for profile photos, trip media, and voice messages. Notifications (messages, approvals, updates) can be managed via device settings.
9 & 10. Data Security & User Content Ownership
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect user data. Users retain ownership of uploaded content, granting tripTrace permission to process it solely for platform services.
11, 12 & 13. Reporting, Children's Privacy & Third-Party Services
tripTrace is not intended for children under 13. We use trusted third-party providers (Google Maps, Firebase, Push Notification & Cloud Storage providers) which operate under their own privacy policies.
14, 15 & 16. Retention, Account Deletion & Updates
Users may request account deletion at any time. When deleted, personal data is removed or anonymized (except records retained for legal compliance). Material changes to this policy will be communicated via the app or website.
